Customer Gallery - Live-action Replica/Western Cartoons

When fulfilling a desire to dress up as your favorite movie or comic book character, you no longer have to settle for the $20 plastic sheet and mask from the Halloween store!

When I am asked to do a replica, I undertake all the research necessary to craft the project to the greatest degree of accuracy possible. It really feels good when someone tells you "You look like you just stepped off the screen!" This gallery shows just a small sampling of the screen replicas I have done over the past years.

Recent Projects

2012-2015 Tahno, Loki, Almost Human, Kyoryuger blazer, Captain America, Snow White, Starlord, Static Shock

Cleric's Coat

This is a fan-favorite that a lot of guys are on the search for, a stylish black coat with traditional frock-coat seams front and back and a futuristic collar and bib-front overlay. The coat is fully functional with easy button front and velcro tabs on the collar, and looks good even for streetwear.

Costume highlights:
  • Coat shell is a unique find, nylon-based outerwear
  • fully lined in comfortable, washable fabric
  • all accurate seams front and back

Vampire Corset and Coat

If you're going to be hunting werewolves, you may as well look good doing it. I completed the full trenchcoat in a medium-weight pleather, lined in cotton for comfort, and the corset in a high-end pleather. The embroidery is all done right here at SLC - check out our embroidery page for information on having embroidered details added to your costume. Special rates apply for buying the complete costume from us, with embroidery added.

Costume highlights:
  • All embroidery custom-built and done on-site
  • Coat has all correct seam placement and embroidered details
  • Corset is functional, boned and laced in back with zippers

Fantasy Frock-Coat

Not all movies are futuristic. This commission came from a recent and somewhat obscure film, but with plenty of reference available, it turned out exact. It can be worn as part of an accurate screen costume, or just by itself as a comfortable, fully-functional frock-coat.

Costume highlights:
  • Coat shell is a comfortable twill with microsuede collar accents
  • Lined in accurate yellow-gold satin with historically-accurate precision
  • Customer-approved vintage star buttons complete the details

Duty Blues Uniform

For a duty uniform such as this, I went for a wool that matched reference photos of the screen-worn costumes very closely. Most people don't like wool, but for suits and uniforms, it is ideal.

Patches are not provided by SLC, they must be purchased elsewhere and sent for attaching to the uniform. The same goes for "authentic" buttons.

Costume highlights:
  • Real suede leather applique on shoulders and sleeves
  • Light blue piping on sleeves, collar, and overlap front
  • Pants may be requested in matching fabric - please negotiate!

Sci-Fi Cab Driver

This costume required a whopping 32 hours of labor to complete. The customer provided excellent references, however, so we managed to make it about 90% accurate. His wife did the pants, but I was responsible for the jacket and shirt.

Costume highlights:
  • Lacing on sides, back, and center back goes through fabric loops
  • "Vertebrae" up center back made of craft foam sewn beneath pockets
  • All pockets, including the right sleeve pouches, are fully functional

Wizard's Sports Robe

The team color contrast design of this style of robe looks really sharp. The back of the robe features a unique pleat above the shortened gore.

Patches are not provided by SLC, they must be purchased elsewhere and sent for attaching to the robe, due to licensing.

Costume highlights:
  • High-end quilter’s cotton provides the best drape and brightest color
  • Six grommets with leather or cord lacing in front
  • Accurate rolled bottom hem and center back pleat with shortened gore to add volume

Elf's Undershirt

Only the shirt for this costume was completed, with details consistent with the screen version (even though these details won't be seen when the entire costume is worn). The customer wanted an accurate shirt to go under the rest of his costume.

Costume highlights:
  • Silver embroidered designs on shoulder caps, which are appliqued to sleeves
  • Soft leather lacing and silver eyelets run up the underside of both sleeves
  • Lapped collar has no visible seam

Black Adept's Outfit

Good reference photos and the right pattern make it possible for me to make these kinds of items.

These shirts require a fair amount of extra tailoring to get an exact fit, with a number of snaps and buttons to make it so the front panel can be worn open or closed.

Costume highlights:
  • Black gabardine with silver contrast panel lining
  • Vest, stole, and obi optional to add

Robes & Tunics

The vast majority of my commission work early on consisted of movie-accurate robes and tunics, along with a few custom pieces for fanfilms and unique fans.

This is just a small sampling of pictures from a few of my customers who wanted to share what their finished costumes looked like.

Please note:
  • Museum Replicas owns the license for this franchise. SLC is no longer able to take commissions for these characters.
  • Strange Land Costuming will now only take robe and tunic commissions if the customer is willing and able to provide the fabric they wish to use for original characters only
