Customer Gallery - Anime Cosplay
Just because a costume is featured only in a two-dimensional source like animation doesn't mean it can't be replicated with a high degree of quality and accuracy. With the increase in anime-oriented and anime-only conventions, there is a huge demand for these kinds of costumes to look and fit well, and to stand head-and-shoulders above the crowd.
These are just a few of the projects I've done for cosplayers.

Embroidered Kimono
|
Though I can do all parts of this kind of costume, the
customer only needed the special kimono for the top layer. Fade-dyed, then appliqued and embroidered with all the large, colorful
patterns, this kimono is practically a work of art.
Some of the appliques stitched onto this kimono were embroidered on-site and placed like patches. Our Custom Embroidery page
can tell you more about getting custom-designed patches, appliques, and direct embroidery on your costumes.
Costume highlights:
- fade-dyed by hand by SLC
- appliques sized proportional to the customer and sewn on with a satin stitch

Super Hero Headdress
|
Once in a while I am able to take accessory commissions
for some parts of costumes. For this project, the customer only needed the shorts (not pictured) and the headdress. It took a lot
of thinking, but the headdress itself was not too hard at all, and thanks to studying the reference pictures I found a new fandom!
Costume highlights:
- sponsor stickers provided by the customer
- foam wreath rings mounted on secure plastic tabs connected to headband
- real tassels and gold beads!

Manga Mafia Uniform
|
This was constructed from manga references before
any color shots of the costume(s) were released. Since then, I've been told that the "official" color is a tan or off-white
instead of pure white, but the customer preferred the pure white look instead.
Patches are not purchased or provided by SLC; the customer must provide any patches to be sewn onto costumes, for perfect
placement in the construction. However, if your character's patch is not commercially available, we may be able to make one
for you! Check out our Custom Embroidery page for details.
Costume highlights:
- the black and white parts are all joined, not appliqued over each other
- custom-made pants like these must be fitted to the customer, using mockups if we have to

Shinigami Captain
|
This black and white ensemble from a very popular
series is comfortable and recognizable, because of the traditional Japanese
clothing and the emblems on the back of the coat. This costume was completed prior to the series being released in the US,
so it has a few minor inaccuracies.
The shitagi and kosode are usually linen, while the coat (haori) can be any cotton. It should be lined as well. I asked the
customer to purchase his own hakama from a martial arts store, but SLC can and will make hakama as well. In fact, we have
a whole page for them. We can also do waraji sandals for you.
Costume highlights:
- two kimono worn in layers, not just a black kimono trimmed in white!
- captain's number and black pattern on outer coat done in fabric paint

HOLY uniform
|
A very difficult, tailored uniform featuring three colors, all jointed together into one whole.
I liked the way this uniform turned out (and the anime it comes from) so much that I made one for myself!
Costume highlights:
- Fabrics are entirely twill - blue, white, and dark gray (black)
- Patch was created by hand in Illustrator and dye sublimated onto duck canvas fabric

Yondaime ninja
|
Many of the costumes I get asked to do are simply the coats, as people find it easier to collect the under-clothing themselves and let me tackle the complicated part. This ninja coat is no exception.
Costume highlights:
- Flames on the bottom and kanji on back are fabric paint
- Twill coat is fully lined with purple contrast fabric

Motorcycle vest
|
Once again, my part was to create the complicated pleather motorcycle vest for this character, with all its studs and buckles. The customer purchased the fabric, it is real stretch pleather.
Costume highlights:
- Shoulder armor is Wonderflex plastic, covered in spandex fabric with Foamies used as trim
- Some of the silver studs connecting the straps across the closure are actually silver snaps
- The vest closes with velcro and snaps, and buckles at the collar

Egyptian Tombkeeper
|
This Tombkeeper costume is a very simple off-the-shoulder sheath gown. The accessories for this outfit are what gives it its punch. This is a good example of the size and complexity of prop/accessory work SLC can do for clients.
Costume purchased and worn by BriChibi Cosplays.
Costume highlights:
- Necklace prop/accessory is Sculpey with a variety of beads (including bone beads)
- The trim on the gown was painted on with fabric paint
